Those who want to make use of government subsidies and get direct benefit transfer (DBT) in their State Bank of India (SBI) bank accounts will have to mandatorily link Aadhar to the it.
SBI on Twitter asked its customers to link their Aadhar-based unique identification (IDs) to their bank accounts to receive DBT.
“We would like to inform our customers that Aadhaar Card seeding is mandatory for those desirous of receiving any benefit or subsidy from Govt. of India through Direct Benefit Transfer,” tweeted SBI.
Notably, as per Supreme Court verdict, linking Aadhar to bank accounts is not compulsory but it is mandatory if account holders want to receive government benefits.
